Digging way back…

January 6th, 2009

I have been packing/meeting all day…preparing for our big move tomorrow.  So…Here’s a picture from almost a year ago when Roger and I went to Reynosa to shoot for the Canal presentation.  If you’re bored tomorrow come help us move.

Bedouins on a Mission!

January 5th, 2009

This Saturday the Birmingham News featured Bedouins in their Religion section.  Not only that, but they gave us half of the front page of the section, above the fold.  Primo.  We were honored that they were interested in us and what we’re doing, and we’ve been getting a lot of response to the article, which has been fantastic.  Cheers Bham News!

sunday sunday sunday

January 4th, 2009

it’s been an exhausting few days.  I haven’t really done much that would classify as productive, but I plan on changing that as of tomorrow.  For now, here’s another picture from Haiti that I’ve never shared before (I don’t think?).  These are a few of the kids at the school in Coco Beach.  Roger and I talked a bit about Haiti today…seems like it was forever ago that we were all there.

Lazy Saturday…

January 3rd, 2009

I had high hopes for getting up and reading for a while, doing laundry and starting to pack in preparation for our move into the new loft next week…but here I am back in bed at almost 11 playing around on priceline.  I found round trip tickets to Paris (I’m going in April I think) for $615!  Crazy.  Anyways…before I go become productive…here’s a picture from Haiti that I don’t think I’ve shown anyone yet.  It’s one of the boy we took back to Cap Haïtiten for medical aid, which they were un-equipped to give him.  Anne is still working on ways of getting him taken care of.  Happy Saturday.

More on this later when the film gets back…but here’s a sneak peek at some engagements that we shot today:

Day one…and I’m back!

January 1st, 2009

I made it…2 weeks out of town and I’m so glad to be home.  Much to type about, much to share…film off on monday…

For now, I’m going to start the trend that I began last year and failed miserably, and try to post every day.  No promises (I’ll be in africa for 2 weeks later this month…that could mess me up…but maybe i can work it out).

So let’s start the year off with someone who’s never made an appearence on my blog…This is my grandpa Fred.  He and I watched a lot of football and took a lot of naps this past week in Indiana.  I’ll have more photos from Auburn and Indiana as soon as I get the film sent off and developed.  Happy 2009 everyone!

A break…

December 26th, 2008

So I’ve taken a little break from “life” as I know it for the past week or so, just to clear my head, stop working for a little while and try to gain a bit of perspective on life.  There are a lot of big things coming up in the spring, and next year in general, added to a list of huge things happening now, or just having happened in my life and in both of my businesses…so I decided that I needed a break.  I’m here in Auburn staying with my family, and will be leaving in 2 days to go visit the rest of my family in Indiana.  It’ll be nice/weird to be in a place without my wi-fi connection, good cell service, or any of the other things that I have come to lean on day to day.  Either way it goes, it’s always nice to spend some time with my family.  I hope to be back and kicking in the bham around the 2nd, and maybe even have a bit of direction going by then…but I’m trying not to get ahead of myself.

Today was a really cool day.  Obviously it was Christmas, so, as you can imagine, I did the whole Christmas thing with my family.  We had a great time, and I’m loaded with a slew of new books that are going to keep my head busy for the next week or so (plus probably a few months after I get home).  We also got to go bowling (real bowling, a supplement to our wii bowling that’s been a regular activity here for the past week) which was a great time.  Then to top things off I got a call out of the blue from my friend Sam.  Sam has never made an apperance on the blog, so I’d say that Christmas is the perfect time to introduce him.

Sam and I grew up together, and have know each other forever.  He’s one of the very few people that I still talk to regularly (i use that term semi-loosely) from my “previous” life.  Sam and I went to middle school through high-school together, and were almost always together for most of that time.  Just before I left Auburn for Birmingham, Sam up and moved to Paris, where he’s now attending AUP and doing really well.  So, Sam calling me to hang out today came as quite a surprise.  Here’s a pic of Sam that I snapped while we hung out with my family for a little while after going out and catching up a bit.

It was a fantastic surprise to top of my awesome Christmas day.  I hope you all had a great Christmas as well, and I’m looking forward to getting back home and back into the swing of things (keeping this updated a little better I hope) soon!  If I’m not back on here before…have a happy new years and be safe!!!

by the way…beware of the beard…it’s only getting bigger from here…

Cory and Hali Engagement Session

December 20th, 2008

It seems that this has been the Auburn Alum Engagement Season…which has been a blast to be a part of!  My friend Cory (also a form Auburn Art Student with me) and his fiencée Hali contacted me a few months back about shooting their wedding and I was thrilled to get another chance to hang out with some old friends from my days as an undergrad at AU.  We did an engagement session a few weeks ago here in downtown Birmingham and had a great time hanging out and goofing off.  I just posted the gallery, so be sure to Check out the Full Gallery HERE!

Michael and Laurel-Dawn Engagement Session

December 19th, 2008

Many of you may have seen the wedding ads that I posted on here a few weeks ago.  Or you might have even seen them running in Skirt Birmingham.  Well…now you get to meet the wonderful designer who put them together for me!  Laurel-Dawn and I had classes together back in art school at auburn, so when she contacted me about doing her wedding I was thrilled.  We put our heads together and realized that she could do some really wonderful stuff for me, and this was the perfect opportunity to help each other out, so she started working on my new promo packet right away (it is WONDERFUL, I can’t wait to show you all!).  We got together a few weeks ago on a beautiful day out at the boulder fields with Michael, and their two dogs and had a great time taking their pics.  I hope you guys enjoy them as much as we enjoyed making them!  Keep an eye out for their wedding early next year!
